Toyota New Corolla Adopts the NEW TNGA Global Architecture

Automotores Toyota opens the presale in the country of the twelfth generation Corolla, the best-selling vehicle in history, which will arrive completely renovated in November.

More than 45 million Toyota Corolla units have been sold worldwide since it introduced in 1966. However, the most important novelty of the recent generation is that it will offer for the first time with hybrid motorization, consistent with the brand’s directive for introducing more and better technologies, gearbox and other systems that improve the mobility and quality of life of Colombians.

Following in the footsteps of other models of the brand, the new Corolla adopts the new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) global architecture, which offers benefits such as a lower center of gravity, greater driver visibility, and better stability. Likewise, this platform allows smart steels to incorporate into the body, which translates into lighter and safer cars.

In terms of design, the new Corolla now expresses elegance, robustness, lighting, and sportiness, something that also transmitted in the cabin, where the minimalist character promotes a feeling of spaciousness, comfort, and functionality.

In the XE-i and SEG versions, the Corolla will release a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, 167 horsepower, and 20.4 kg-m of torque, which managed with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) of 10 speeds, a combination that improves fuel optimization and dynamic performance.

The great novelty is that for the first time in the country, a Toyota hybrid system is offered: a 1.8-liter gasoline engine (96.5 hp and 14.4 kg-m), supported by an electric propeller, which together generates 126 horsepower and a torque of 17.3 kg-m. The hybrid versions (XE-i HV and SEG HV) also paired with CVT transmissions.

The technology of this vehicle allows both the electric motor and the internal combustion engine to propel the vehicle independently, an adjustment that is done automatically according to the driving conditions.

In terms of active safety, the new Toyota sedan has resources such as ABS brakes, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Distribution, Stability Control ( VSC ), Traction Control ( TRC ), and Start-Up Assistant ( HAC ), among other. As for passive safety, the list includes seven airbags, five three-point seat belts (the front with pre-tensioner and force limiter).

For its part, the hybrid SEG version will add the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS). It includes additional resources such as Pre-Collision System ( PCS ), Adaptive Cruise Control System ( ACC ), Automatic High Light System ( AHB ), and System Lane Change Alert ( LDA ).
